- Ground preparation: Ensure that the surface on which you will lay the terracotta tiles is clean, flat, and dry. If necessary, use a leveling mortar to correct any irregularities. Laying the terracotta tiles: Begin by laying the tiles from the center of the room outwards. Use a level to ensure each tile is properly aligned and the surface is even. Apply a double-bonding adhesive mortar or a specific terracotta tile adhesive to the floor, then also apply adhesive to the back of the tile for better adhesion. Place each tile firmly into position to ensure good adhesion. Grouting: Once laid, you need to waterproof your terracotta tiles, which are very porous, with a special terracotta water repellent before applying the grout. Apply the grout generously and diagonally over an area of approximately 1 m² using a rubber squeegee, ensuring that it completely fills the gaps between the joints. Smooth the joints thoroughly to achieve a uniform and clean finish. Initial cleaning: After completing the laying and grouting, clean the surface with a damp sponge to remove any excess mortar. Take care not to allow any mortar residue to dry on the surface of the terracotta tiles
