Textiles made from recycled raw materials have been part of Christian Fischbacher‘s portfolio since 2009.

The BENU® Recycled collection is comprised of four ranges: BENU PET, BENU SEA, BENU INDUSTRY and BENU YARN.

The BENU® PET collection uses polyester obtained from used (post-consumer) PET plastic bottles. The plastic bottles are collected, cleaned, ground, melted down and spun into high-quality polyester yarn.

In the BENU® SEA collection, plastic waste collected from the ocean is processed into a hard-wearing polyester yarn in a resource-saving process, from which high-quality fabrics and rugs are produced.

Textiles from the BENU® INDUSTRY collection are made from recycled yarn remnants, which are produced during the manufacture of Trevira polyester yarn. Instead of disposing of these, they are reprocessed, recycled, and processed into Trevira yarn.

The fabrics in the BENU® YARN collection are made from recycled textile waste from the fashion industry. The used cuttings from ready-made garments are sorted by colour, shredded into their original fibre form, carded, and spun into a new, high-quality recycled yarn.

They have furnished some of the most prestigious public and private spaces around the world for generations. The projects range from hotels, residential homes and offices, to wellness spas, private clubs and restaurants.

Christian Fischbacher indoor/outdoor fabrics boast an especially high level of lightfastness achieved by using a special yarn dyeing technology which allows for the use of upholstery and curtain fabrics even in places with very high light-exposure levels, such as gardens, balconies, conservatories or other particularly bright rooms.

Most Christian Fischbacher indoor/outdoor fabrics are also resistant to sea water and chlorinated water, which makes them suitable for use by pools or on boats. They are treated with a special finish to make them stain-resistant, durable and easy to clean.
