Limitations do exist for certain order quantities and materials. We ask our members to sample responsibly to protect from the negative environmental impact of unneeded sampling that results in both excess waste to landfills and excess carbon emissions from multiple shipments. If you’re unable to order a material due to site restrictions, please contact us at support@materialbank.com.
Material Bank ships all orders to you for free, using either FedEx priority overnight or ground service, depending on your timing needs.
FedEx PRIORITY OVERNIGHT shipping schedule:
• Monday through Friday by midnight (ET) orders - deliver the next business day by 10:30 AM.
• Saturday before 8 PM (ET) orders - deliver Monday by 10:30 AM.
• Saturday after 8 PM (ET) through Sunday orders - process Monday and deliver Tuesday by 10:30 AM.
FedEx GROUND shipping schedule:
• All orders - deliver within 1-5 business days.
Most items on Material Bank are in stock and can ship overnight. If a sample is not in stock, the request will be fulfilled directly by the brand within one to five business days. Look for the checkmark icon displaying on in-stock items.
Yes, Material Bank members can ship to any address, including your home, a client's office, or an alternative location. To modify your designated address from the cart, select the pencil icon next to the shipping details before you place your order. You can also add a new address directly to your Address Book, which can be found under your account menu.
No, you are not able to change the shipping address of an order after it has been submitted. If you need to change an address, you can cancel your order within 15 minutes by selecting the “Cancel” button on the Order History page. After canceling, you can quickly recreate the order by clicking “Select All”, then “Add to Cart”. Be sure to edit the address before re-submitting. Yes, Material Bank ships throughout Canada in addition to the entire contiguous United States.
No, Material Bank is not able to deliver to USPS post office boxes. All orders are shipped via FedEx, and they do not support it at this time.
From your Orders page, you will find a “Track Order” button after it is processed. If you need your tracking number sooner, please contact us at support@materialbank.com, or through the “Chat/Help?” button. Once you have your tracking number, you can use the FedEx tracking system to receive the latest info on your delivery. To note: If an item you ordered is not in stock and is being shipped directly from a brand, please contact them for shipping details.

Yes, Material Bank is free to use and place orders for approved design community members.
Use your company-affiliated email address and an approval process will follow to verify your status as a qualifying architect, designer, or industry professional. To note: Registering with a public domain email address (such as Gmail, Yahoo, etc.), or a shared company email address (such as info@, designer@, etc.) will delay the approval process.Manufacturers and Brand Reps. If you are a current brand partner or represent one or more brand partners, use your company-affiliated email address. Consolidating samples into a single box saves excess packaging and eliminates waste. Since 2019, over four million packages have been saved by members ordering samples from Material Bank.Sample Return Program. Focused entirely on circularity, we aim to reuse all returned samples. Material Bank has redistributed over 1.2 million samples since 2019. With returned samples that are damaged and cannot be reused, we have diverted over half a million pounds and counting of samples from sanitary landfills.Climate Impact Program. A free, exclusive Material Bank program supporting firms on their sustainable design journey. Program partners gain access to firm-specific custom filters, sampling impact metrics, and customized digital tools to support sustainability education and material specification efforts. The program is available for firms with 10+ Material Bank members and requires minimal set-up and execution time.Climate Pledge Signatory & Science Base Targets Initiative. Material Bank was approved and has committed to reaching net-zero carbon emissions by 2040, ten years ahead of the Paris Agreement’s goal of 2050.Carbon Neutral Shipping. Since October 2020, we have been offsetting shipping emissions for 100% of sample packages shipped from our warehouse to your shipping address. We work with ACT Commodities to purchase verified carbon credits supporting projects in Canada, Turkey, and China. We also purchase carbon credits from ClearLoop, to support their solar farms in Jackson, Tennessee and Panola County, Mississippi.

With the launch of Inspiration, Material Bank’s proprietary discovery engine, there’s never been more searchable design images gathered and organized in a single A&D resource. Users can access 10M+ creative assets and sample what they see, harnessing Inspiration as a turn-key creative tool and launchpad for design exploration.
Boards provide organizational and collaboration tools for saving, tagging, viewing and sharing materials for your projects. You can add materials from our catalogue of hundreds of thousands of materials as well as upload your own images to enrich your board’s story. You can create custom tags, share your board with members and non-members alike and collaborate with colleagues who are Material Bank members for input and review. You can even export your material’s attributes. Once you’re ready, you can quickly sample your entire board, all in one box, overnight.
