Panels are trimmed to size and the backs are sanded to facilitate bonding to a substrate. Material thickness is determined by the number of kraft layers bonded together

Tested to standard NEMA/LD 3-2005 for dimensional change. Results varied between 0.25% - 0.30% in the machine direction and 0.45% - 0.60% in the cross direction depending on product type and thickness.

Edges should be filed smooth and oriented towards the substrate to help prevent stress cracks and to minimize chipping

Use carbide-tipped blades and router bits for cutting purposes. Kepp feed rates slow and tool speed high. The inside corners of cutouts should have a minimum radius of 0.125in and be filed smooth. When fasteners are required, it is advisable to drill an oversized hole through the laminate first. These strategies reduce the likelihood of stress cracks. Refer to the Postforming Technical Bulletin for postforming guidance
Recommended Adhesive
Solvent or water-based contact cement, white glue (PVA), epoxy, or hot melt glue. Consult your adhesive supplier for specific application requirements
Suitable Substrates
Medium to high density fiberboard, particleboard, or metals are suitable substrate options. Do not glue directly to plaster walls, gypsum wallboard, or concrete. The use of a backing sheet is recommended to minimize warpage. Apply to the opposite side of the substrate. The thickness of the backing sheet should be relatively equal to the thickness of the decorative laminate on the face of the assembly.

Flammability
Tested to standard ASTM E84, UL 723 and CAN/ULC-S102-M. Results dependent on the HPL product type, bonding substrate, and adhesive. See Technical Bulletin for additional information
