Technology partner. Annual sponsor.
Since 2020, Material Bank has supported the mindful MATERIALS movement through annual sponsorship of in-person events and Greenbuild activations, and becoming a tech partner and forum participant in 2024. We've deepened that collaboration by integrating the Common Materials Framework (CMF), organizing searchable sustainability data directly into the Material Bank workflow, and by creating a CMF themed CEU that teaches firms how to incorporate the framework into material search and specification.
Material Bank search filters support faster, more responsible material selection, helping firms of all sizes prioritize sustainability from the earliest stages of design. Our filters are informed by Common Materials Framework (CMF).
Culture is creativity
“Our collaboration with Material Bank has demonstrated what happens when culture drives design. Through their platform and partnership, we’ve been able to bring our work to life at scale. Since 2022, from the Hip Hop Architecture Camp for youth to Remix the Palette for professionals, we’ve worked across the country to create experiences where music shapes materials and materials tell stories. In doing so, we’re making space for new designers to see themselves in the work and step into the field.”

Beyond material reuse
We are proud to support Marcella Hobbs, a 2026 Interior Design HiP award winner “manufacturer for Greater Good”.
Material Bank’s partnership with Flourish Society goes far beyond material reuse. By supplying returned textile samples, purchasing the hand-sewn bags, and supporting the emergency fund for the women’s sewing collective in Belize, we’re investing in a system that creates both environmental and human value. Connecting with Marcella and Dawn and seeing the direct impact of their work reinforces what matters most - our sample return program has an impact beyond reducing waste, it is about creating opportunity and supporting real lives. We’re proud to be part of the Flourish Society story.
Fostering mentorship. Building community.
“Since 2022, Material Bank’s support has played a meaningful role in expanding what we’re able to offer our student scholars. Their annual contribution enables architecture students to experience the AIA Conference - creating access, exposure, and inspiration at a pivotal moment in their education.
Material Bank has gone beyond traditional sponsorship, creating an annual event where scholars engage with experienced professionals from diverse backgrounds, helping foster meaningful dialogue, mentorship, and a stronger sense of community for the next generation of architects.”

Partnerships that extend our impact beyond our walls: building common sustainability standards, championing design education, and creating opportunity for underrepresented talent.
Material Bank has played an integral role in the creation of the Climate Toolkit for Interior Design—a resource spearheaded by Metropolis Magazine that seeks to educate interior designers about the issue of embodied carbon.
Material Bank is sponsoring live Climate Toolkit workshops in 2022 and is developing an exclusive Climate Toolkit CEU for interior designers.
“DLR Group values Material Bank as a powerful tool for exploring products and building informed, cohesive finish palettes - and we love the integration of the Common Materials Framework within the platform, which helps our teams more easily evaluate products through a sustainability lens during the design process.”
